Bhopal / Bhubaneswar: Police Bhopal on Thursday registered a case of dowry and intimidation against MP BJD Bhartruhari Mahtab, his wife Mahasweta and Son Lokranjan based on complaints by Sakshi’s daughter-in-law.
Bhartruhari, son of Odisha Harekrushna Mahtab, is one of the most famous politicians in Odisha and six times Lok Sabha MP from Cuttack.
MP, his wife and son have been ordered under the 498A IPC section (relatively husband or husband made a woman for atrocities), 406 (criminal violations of trust), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (general intentions) and section 3/4) and parts 3/4 Law on Dowry’s prohibition, the police said.
Sakshi, 34, a resident of Mp Nagar Bhopal, married Lokranjan, a marketing professional, on December 12, 2016.
“In his complaint, he had alleged that his father spent around Rs 2.5 Crore at his marriage, but as soon as his husband and immediately afterwards Laws began to harass him for dowry, “said Mahila Thana Sho Ajeeta Nair.
“Fed up with abuse”, he had to go back to his parents many times, said the complaint, added that he had submitted a petition for the restitution of conjugal rights, but his husband and in-laws never came to court during counseling.
The court made a decision in his kindness.
He also said that he went to his in-laws’ house in New Delhi several times in 2018 but they did not allow him to enter, which made him a complaint on Thursday.
Police Bhopal said they had started an investigation into this case and could publish a call for the Bhartruhari family.
When contacted, MP Cuttack said the allegations looked like ‘reflection’.
“I came to find out about the accusations leveled with me and my family from the media.
It’s a personal problem of my child and I have nothing else to say.
My son and his wife barely lived together for 4-5 days since their marriage.
He has lived in Bhopal while my son works in Mumbai, “Bhartruhari Toi said.
He said he would not comment on the services of this case because this problem is currently being investigated.
The family source said after failing reconciliation efforts, Lokranjan’s son had submitted a divorce petition in Patiala House Court in New Delhi in the final semester of 2018, which was delayed.
