Odisha expands a disabled scheme

Bhubaneswar: Extension of Integrated Initiative for Empowering Persons with Disabilities (PWDS) – Bhima Bhinnakhyama Samarthya Abhiyan (BBSA) – For five more years has been approved by the State Government Financial Expenditure Committee (EFC).
About 3.2% of the Odisha population consisted of PWD, which is the highest in this country, according to the 2018 National Survey Survey (NSSO) report.
This increases the need for a continuation of the scheme for the old period, officials said.
The Secretary of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons Disables has made a presentation before EFC on January 11, justify the need to continue the scheme, expand the activities for PWD and increase the cost of the cost of the scheme and year -Wise components for a period of five years.
After this, EFC approved an extension of the scheme from 2021-22 to 2025-26 with an estimated cost of Rs 139.25 Crore.
In the coming years, the department will connect aadhar cards from PWD with their bank accounts.
This will help credit financial assistance into the beneficiary account through the transfer of benefits directly below this scheme.
The department will also explore the possible convergence / integration of scholarships for PWD children who pursue higher education with the Ministry of Higher Education and to develop a system to monitor problems related to scholarship payments to PWD children in need.
It’s separate, it will check the possibility of the convergence of the scheme component with the support of corporate social responsibility, wherever possible.
The third party evaluation of the scheme in the past five years will be carried out.
