Odisha: Fares Bus Hiked for 2nd Time this year due to increased diesel costs

Bhubaneswar: The State Transportation Department on Saturday increases bus rates after increasing diesel prices throughout the country.
This is the second time this year that bus rates have increased.
The normal and express category bus fares have been upgraded by three Paise per kilometer while Deluxe and AC Deluxe have risen six Paise per kilometer.
The super premium category bus rates have been appointed by nine Paise per km.
Ordinary buses will now charge 92p / km compared to 89p / km early, while the Express Bus will burden 96p / km with a previous level of 93p / km.
Likewise, Deluxe and AC Deluxe rates have been carried out by Rs 1.35 / Km and Rs 1.63 / km.
For super premium buses, passengers must pay Rs 2.53 / KM against Rs 2.44 / Km early.
If a passenger walks to Rourkela from Bhubaneswar (a distance of around 335 km) on a normal bus, he must pay Rs 308 from now on.
The tariff is Rs 322 for Express Bus, Rs 452 for the Deluxe category, RS 546 for AC Deluxe and RS 848 if someone travels with a super premium category bus.
Official notifications issued by the State Transport Authority said the bus rates have increased due to the increase in diesel prices from Rs 97.25 / Liter on July 1 to Rs 102.34 / Liter on Saturday.
Debendra Sahu, Secretary General of the Association of private bus owners, said the tariff has increased in accordance with the mechanism of revising automatic rates.
“Bus fare increases by one Paisa for each increase in Rs 2 in the price of fuel,” said Sahu.
He told the center and the state government must reduce excise taxes and VAT on diesel to reduce gasoline and diesel prices.
On March 4, ordinary and express category bus rates increased by 5 p / km while Deluxe and AC Deluxe buses of 10p / km and the Super Premium category bus of 15p / km.
