Bhubaneswar: By reporting more than 30 Covid-19 infections in several schools, the Odisha government has formed a special cell to monitor cases in schools, officials said on Wednesday.
The Authority of the Odisha School Education Program (Osepa) has issued orders for this purpose.
In accordance with the order, Covid monitoring cells have been formed in the Office of the Director of the State Project (SPD), Osepa with the command control center.
Officials engaged in cells will collect the presence of daily classes — 9, 10, 11 and 12 and monitor various incidents related to Covid from the district and submit reports every day to SPD, Osepa.

The government has also asked all District Education Officers (Deos) to form Covid monitoring cells at the district level as soon as possible and appoint a senior officer as Covid’s compliance officer.
Covid Compliance Officers will ensure the implementation of the Covid protocol in schools and collect daily presence from class 9 to 12 students and submit them to Osepa every day.
“If there is a covid-related incident occurring in the district, it will be reported that day on the signageed below without delay,” said the command.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Principal of the School and Massa Education School, Satyabata Sahu has issued a new SOP for the functioning of the school.
In a letter to all Deos, Sahu said the teachers must ensure that students who come to school must wear a mask.
In the case, each student has come to school without a mask, school administration should not allow students to enter the place.
At the entry point, thermal screening and hand sanitation of all students must be ascertained, he said.
Sahu asks officials to ensure social distance in the classroom and do not allow students, teachers, non-teaching to have mild symptoms such as cold, sneezing.
What was instructed above came after the main meeting of Minister Naveen Patnen’s Covid-19, where he said that educational institutions would be responsible if negligence reports appeared forward.
He has directed the local government to form a special team to examine educational institutions regularly.
