BERHAMPUR: In a time when authorities and wellness specialists are trying to include Covid-19 throughout the nation, a small village at Ganjam district has managed to help keep the virus at bay since the beginning of the pandemic above a year ago. Karanjara, a mostly fishing village at Danapur panchayat beneath Khallikote block of this district and also a people of 1243 hasn’t listed a single Covid situation since its outbreak. “As January, Covid evaluation was conducted as much as 32 villagers randomly. They all tested negative,” explained Mitali Patra, the block development officer (BDO) of all Khallikote. “ASHA and anganwadi employees conduct door-to-door polls from the village in time to time to evaluate the health state of the older and insecure individuals,” she explained. The village, which is some 50 kilometers apart from Khallikote, has 261 families. Ganjam district collector Vijay Amruta Kulange alongside all the BDO lately went into the village and also collaborated with the locals. “We are extremely happy since the villagers are extremely much conscious of these Covid guidelines. Each of the villagers, also women and children wear masks and preserving social space while they emerge of their house,” Kulange stated. “It is the decision that is helping them keep away from becoming infected,” he added. “We made enormous recognition among villagers from the start of the pandemic regarding the usage of masks and preserving interpersonal distancing. ASHA and anganwadi employees played their role within this. The villagers will also be following the directions,” explained Danapur sarapanch Manoj Kumar Pradhan. “When a few people need to venture from this village, we now after Covid protocol,” explained Trinath Behera, president of Karanjara village committee. “Although a few of those youths are operating out Odisha in countries including Mumbai, they didn’t go back to the village this past year. People who had returned have been stored in quarantine according to the government decision,” Behera added. He said there’s been barely any party in the village because the epidemic of Covid-19. “People are extremely hardworking and they maintain for their occupation of fishing out of Khara Khari river along with farming. They barely have time to get anything ,” said another villager. The village youths take waxing push from time to time.
