Bhubaneswar: A senior government engineer Odisha threw a cash of RS 20 lakh who was not consumed in a bag to the neighbor’s terrace to avoid attacks by the Directorate of Precautions, the Government’s anti-corruption wing in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The odd scene took place when the Dehakaan vigilance stormed Pratap Kumar Samal’s residence, deputy manager of the Odisha police housing and corporate welfare, in the Posh Nayapalli area in the morning after the allegations he had disproportionate assets (DA).
“Officers Jittery tried to throw away the unbelded money and threw the lump of cash on the neighbor’s terrace.
We took RS 20 lakh cash from the terrace.
During the search in his house, we recovered Rs 18 lakh more money,” said an alertness officer.
His vigilance also explored unshakable assets, mostly multi-storey buildings in Bhubaneswar, owned by Samal and family members.
Building assessment is underway.
Simultaneous search operations were carried out in the 3-storey building in the village of IRC in Posh Nayapalli, a 6-storey building located opposite Maa Bhagabati’s temple, Biju Pattanaik College Chhaka in Jayadev Vihar Area, Single Floor House in Sarakagri, Flat No-202, second floor, Narendra Villa in the area of Jayadev Vihar, a building within 5 floors in the Gothapatna area here, a 4-storey building in the village of IRC in Nayapalli (all properties in Bhubaneswar), Apartment Menara Ananya 3 floors in Bhadrak District in Bhadrak.

Samal (53), completed a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Engineering School Barapada in Bhadrak in 1987.
He joined the Odisha police housing and glory on August 14, 1988 as a junior engineer in Bhubaneswar.
Samal continued to work as an estimator until 1994-95 before being transferred to Kendrapara Regency and Deogarh.
On promotion to the rank of deputy manager in 2013, he worked in Rourkela, Bolangeir, Keonjhar and Cuttack.
He joined the head office in Bhubaneswar in 2019.
