BHUBANESWAR: To ensure that the Covid-infected patients do not suffer for medical oxygen, the state government on Sunday launched doorstep delivery of oxygen concentrators in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur, Cuttack, Rourkela and Sambalpur.
“It will give a huge respite to people, who are looking for oxygen concentrators and strengthen our preparedness against current and future waves of Covid-19,” chief minister Naveen Patnaik said after launching the service.
The government said patients can book oxygen concentrators online through the state Covid dashboard (https://statedashboard.odisha.gov.in) or directly via URL (https://o2booking.sachetakapp.in).
After the booking, the authorities of the local urban local body will provide the oxygen concentrators at the registered address of the patients.
“As of now there is no shortage of medical oxygen in our state.
The government is committed to ensure seamless supply of medical oxygen to the patients,” a senior government officer said.
Last week, the state government received the first consignment of around 1,300 medical-grade oxygen cylinders from China.
The cylinders were sponsored by the ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel (AMNS) India Limited through its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative.
Recently, the chief minister announced the formation of a task force to further strengthen the supply logistics of medical oxygen and prepare a master plan to meet the immediate requirement during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Last month, Naveen dedicated a liquid medical oxygen plant facility at MKCG Medical College and Hospital at Berhampur.
“We have been taking steps to strengthen our oxygen management system through purchase of cylinders, establishment of general facilities and deployment of liquid medical containers.
The government is also establishing oxygen plants within the main hospitals,” the officer said.
Apart from strengthening the oxygen management system for the patients inside the state, the government has been supplying oxygen to several needy states for the last one month.
