Bhubaneswar: The state government plans to bring uniform research guidelines for state universities and will be framed after discussions with universities.
The aim is to provide better services for undergraduate research and maintain the quality of research.
The Odisha State Higher Education Board (OSHEC) will lead to frame the guidelines after holding a meeting with the representative of the University Chancellor.
“There are many differences among state universities.
They have their own rules and we do not want to interfere in their business.
But the university must provide services to scholars in a time-bound manner,” said a council official.
“Some universities need a lot of time for registration of students for the PhD program.
Some candidates have completed their PhD work, but they do not get their respective guidelines to start their research work.
Institutions also take several months to approve and provide a PhD After submitting their thesis.
These problems must be resolved by setting a timeline for this service, “said Board Member.
This guideline will discuss this issue.
The university will set a deadline for student registration for the PhD program and approval from the thesis in a way that is bound by time to provide a title to scholars without much delay.
It will also see problems related to the use of anti-plagiarism software and maintain the quality of research.
Several universities asked scholars to publish their research articles in the Scopus index journal, while others advise elsewhere.
After finding all these problems, we thought the board had to bring uniform guidelines for universities about this, said Board members.
