“Samal has been given a required pension to corruption and inefficiency.
At least 131 corrupt and inefficient government employees have been fired from the service so far,” said a government statement.
The development coincided with the Directorate of Precautions on Thursday interrogated Samal’s sister, Namita Das for allegedly stuck in a corrupt practice.
Namita was called to appear in the vigilance office here to be questioned.
“We learned that Pratap Kumar Samal had committed an unregistered partnership act between his wife Sasmita and Sister Namita for the production of two Odia films.
At least Rs 50 Lakh was invested in two films – Baazi (2001) and Nari Fire Nian (2003).

Samal was sent back to trial detention after the completion of two-day interrogation in prisoner detention on Thursday.
“We have vital evidence.
He claimed to have collected a large kickback of several contractors, involved in the construction of police station, court and prison,” the officer said.

He joined the OPHWC on August 14, 1988 as a junior engineer in Bhubaneswar.
He continued to work as an estimator until 1994-95 before being transferred to Kendrapara and Deogarh Regency.
On promotion to the rank of deputy manager in 2013, he worked in Rourkela, Balalangir, Keonjhar and Cuttack.
He joined the head office in Bhubaneswar in 2019.
