Cuttack / Bhubaneswar: Ending the days of tension, the Orissa High Court on Monday allowed the use of green crackers between 8pm and 10 nights on the occasion of DIWali on Thursday, according to the provisions of the state government.
HC which was discarded by the petition submitted by the All-Odisha Fireworks Dealer Association challenged the September 30 ban on firecrackers issued by the Pradeep Special Assistance Commissioner (SRC) considering the last sequence (October 31) which allowed green fireworks.
A two judge of Justice Chair S Muralidhar and Justice B P Roul said, “There is no further command called” after considering the SRC command that allows the sale of green crackers only.
“Sales and use of green fireworks that are in accordance with the standards set by the Scientific and Industrial Research Council (CSIR) and the National Environmental Research Institute (Neer) will be permitted, while all other crackers will remain completely prohibited.

Traders and dealers must get a certificate from the Petroleum Safety Organization and Explosives (Peso) which says that crackers in their stock are in accordance with CSIR-neeri norms.
District administration will establish a special zone for retailers to arrange stores and sell permitted crackers.
Green crackers will be sold on the designated site where the Covid-19 protocol will be strictly followed.
There is no cracker that will be sold online.
