KENDRAPADA: A 10-month-old infant woman was rescued on Monday and glancing at a government-run Child Care Institute (CRI) in Kora village at Kendrapada district, following her mom sold off her Rs 5,000 on Sunday because of poverty.
The episode has been reported by Mahuri village beneath Rajkanika police station following abject poverty drove Arundhuti Raul (34), mom of 3 brothers, to market the baby to a childless person of a village.
Arundhuti’s husband Samir Raul abandoned her final year after 11 decades of marriage.
She had been residing with her parents in Mahuli.
“She was able to work as domestic support to eke out a living.
But as a result of pandemic she didn’t receive any function and it became hard for her to conduct the family.
She offered her daughter to fulfill the expenditures,” explained Mamata Manjari Mallick, the sarpanch of Mahuli g panchayat.
Some villagers educated police and district government about the episode resulting in the babies rescue.
“We rehabilitated both small brothers of Arundhuti from the CRI, stated Pravas Chandra Das, the district child safety officer (DCPO) of all Kendrapada.
