Odisha: Jawad’s Cyclone Assessment will be completed in a week, the official said

Bhubaneswar: Heavy rain and unrelenting because Cyclone Jawad has damaged plants to stand in various districts affected.
Ground surface assessment, which now happens, will be completed in seven days.
Detailed damage reports will be sent to the central team after completing the field level assessment, the official source said.
Chief Secretary of Surez Chandra Mahapatra, Commissioner of the Development and Special Assistance Commission Pardeep Kumar Jena along with senior state officers have interacted with the inter-ministerial team on Monday after a two-day field visit to various fields for assessment of losses caused by Typhoon Jawad who crossed to Odisha beach a few days ago.
The six member team led by Saurav Ray, a joint secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs, was divided into three sub-teams and visited affected areas in Ganjam, Puri, Jajpur, and Kendrapada, Jajpur, and Kendrapada districts.
After feeling the situation at the Ground Zero level, the team discussed damage to senior state officers at a high-level meeting held here on Monday.
Mahapatra told the team that plants were almost in the condition of the maturation when the typhoon approached Odisha coast with heavy rainfall.
Apart from the efforts of farmers, mature plants cannot be harvested and collected in a short period of time.
Agriculture Secretary Suresh Kumar Bashistha said that in addition to heavy rain, it also caused severe damage to brinjal, cauliflower, potatoes, peanuts, and other main vegetables.
The leader of the Ray inter-minister team said that they saw a big loss for farmers on the ground caused by rain of cyclone.
He argued that families who suffered losses needed government support and assistance.
As per the estimated eye, plants stand in more than 5.78 lakh hectares around 131 blocks from twelve districts severely damaged.
The districts are Ganjam, Bhadrak, Puri, Cuttack, Ballasore, Kendrapara, Keonjhar, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Jajpur and Mayurbukanj.
