BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Wednesday postponed its decision on global e-tender to buy covid vaccines by two weeks.
The financial bid for the tender was scheduled to open on Wednesday.
The government would take a call looking at supply position of vaccines by the Centre from June 21, government authorities said.
“We have postponed it by two weeks and would take a call looking at the supply position of vaccines from Government of India for all the age groups which it has agreed to supply from June 21,” additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said.
Government authorities said since two bidders have applied to supply vaccines, the government would keep the option open so that in case of possible short-supply, the government can buy some doses.
“Instead of closing the option at this stage, it has been kept open.
Appropriate decision would be taken depending on how the situation evolves in the country,” another government officer said.
Notably, the Odisha State Medical Corporation Limited had floated tender to buy 3.80 crore doses.
