Odisha launched a plan to hone student basic literacy skills

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Government has launched Mission EK, DUI, Teenagers (1,2,3) from the current academic session to improve the literacy skills and student numeration through innovative pedagogy.
This program, part of the national initiative for reading skills with understanding and numeration (Nipun Bharat), aims to include the learning needs of children in the age group of 3 to 9 years.
“This mission aims to ensure that at the end of 2026-27, every child acquires the desired learning competence in reading, writing, and counting when they are promoted to class 4,” Gangadhar Sahoo said, Director of the State Education Council.

“This program also focuses on three main aspects – health, welfare and community communication skills.
This is a target plan and deadline where the results have been repaired,” he added.
The government collaborated with three voluntary organizations – Language and Learning Foundations, Akshara Foundation and Central Square Foundation – to implement the program effectively.
“It would be better if the program was introduced offline in schools from the current academic session,” said Tapas Kumar Nayak, assistant director in the Directorate of Teacher Education and Scerter.
