Odisha: Low pressure brings rain, reduces deficit

Bhubaneswar: Most places in the country witnessed light to moderate rain in the last 24 hours under the influence of low pressure Thursday formed above Bay.
Some regions also received heavy rainfall.
IMD forecasts say the intensity of rainfall will decrease from Saturday.
“Rain will continue in many places until July 26,” said H R Biswas, Director of the Central IMD center here.
The official source said Birmaharijapur in the District of Nabarangpur recorded 202 mm highest rain in the last 24 hours.
Low pressure-induced rain brings aid to farmers to activate their agricultural activities, which are slowed because of the monsoon rain deficit.
IMD said the rain would support Kharif Padi transplantation.
Weatherman said that with the rain area also affected some improvements in the trend of rain deficits that apply in the state.
Agriculture Minister Arun Sahoo after a recent review of his department told Mediodperson that the government continued to oversee the monsun rain trend and would take the necessary steps after a thorough discussion about this problem.
He then revealed that around 27 blocks spread in five districts were faced with a rainy deficit.
A senior Department of Agriculture officer said because the country’s rain deficit witnessed by around three Lake Lakh Lakh was less this year compared to around 12 hectares of Lakh which was covered during the same period last year.
