Paradip: A 50-year-old man allegedly hung himself after hacking his wife and daughter to death in the Jagatsinghpur Odisha district, police said on Saturday.
The incident took place in the village of Jota Chandpatna in the conscious conscious area of the Jagatsinghpur police station on Friday night, said Pravat Kumar Sahu Inspector.
The locals saved the wife and son of the man and rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
His daughter, who was in his early twenties, gave up on his injury while undergoing treatment at a local hospital, while his mother died while being taken to SCB Medical College and the hospital in Cuttack, the officer said.
The incident was suspected of being a fallout of family disputes but further investigation was underway to ensure the exact reason behind it, he said.
