Puri: The police on Thursday arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly raping a little girl on the roof of his house in Puri, a senior official said.
Four police teams were looking for defendants, who had run after the incident on Sunday, SP V Singh told reporters here.
He finally nabbed from a house in the district, he said.
The health condition of the 5-year-old girl, who was treated at the Medical College SCB Hospital in Cuttack, was stable, said Singh.
“The defendant came from the Jagatsinghpur district and recently released from prison.
He is also known as the girl’s family,” SP said.
Singh said Chargesheet will be submitted within 20 days and the court ruling is expected within two months, because the case is under the ‘Red Flag’ category.
The defendant has been ordered under the relevant parts of the IPC and ACT Pocso.
The holy city of Puri has witnessed three rape cases involved involving little girls in the span of three days, police said, added that all the defendants had been arrested.
