Bhubaneswar: Police on Thursday arrested Manas Das, a BJD worker and owner of NGO Manababad Politihan, because of his alleged involvement in the murder of a 45-year-old farmer in Khurda in 1.
His son had also been arrested allegations from brutal attacking a man and his son in the Beggia area recently.
The incident was revealed after the video became a viral.
Manas’s arrest came two days after 11 tribal clothing held a demonstration before the Khurda SP office demanded strict action against him.
They accused Manas, who was a lawyer, very influential because of its proximity to several BJD leaders and had terrorized poor tribes in Khurda.
Manas landed in the storm after his name appeared in the alleged Begvia attack on the father-child duo.
The victims had submitted a complaint against Manas and his supporters.
The complainants accused that Manas was angry with them because they refused to work for the NGO.
“We caught Manas after learning about his relationship in the murder case.
In addition, we investigated his involvement in two other cases.
His son was arrested for his involvement in a recent attack on the duo of the father-child.
The manas role in the attack is also being examined,” said Inspector General of Police (Central Range) Narasingha Bhol.
