Bhubaneswar: Odisha has gotten infamanjitas has witnessed the number of cases of the most persecution in India by 2020, a year that saw the country and the country experienced a few months due to the unprecedented covid pandemic.
According to the latest National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, at all 12,605 abuse (Part 354 IPC) was recorded in the state of last year.
Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh came second and third with 9,965 and 9,864 cases, respectively.
Odisha stood in second place with 11,318 cases of persecution in the country in 2019 after Uttar Pradesh, who has registered 12,157 cases of that year.
The NCRB report said the crime against women in the country increased by almost 10% last year from 2019.
While 23,183 cases related to crimes against women registered in 2019, the figure jumped to 25,489 in 202.9 Lakh population per 1 lakh, the level of crime against women in Odisha was second only for Assam where the number was 154.3.
Asked about the reason for the worrying increase in such cases, the police said that almost all forms of crime against women began with the intention of being angry at their courtesy.
“We usually find mention of persecution at the beginning related to every attack or crime against women.
If the main accusation of a woman against someone is rape, he also mentions other charges, including persecution or attack,” said a police officer.
Police further said in other countries, female victims may not mention the persecution as a charge in FIR if their main allegations are something else.
Women’s activists expressed great concern over bursts in crimes against women.
“The police failed to create a safe atmosphere for women.
They only boast launched a female-friendly initiative.
In fact, anti-social is not afraid of the police,” said Swarnalate Tripathy, an activist said.
However, the police said the defendant at 96% of rape cases and harassment was the acquaintance of the victims.
“The increase in registration of cases does not mean that certain crimes rise.
It is good to see women come forward to file complaints.
We take fast action in all cases,” another police officer said.
The NCRB findings describe the disposal of cases, involve crimes against women, in poor light.
The level of confidence of these cases was established in Abysmal 9.2% by 2020 while most other countries had both a good level of confidence between 30% and 80%.
Going with NCRB statistics, rape cases fell to 1.211 last year to fight 1,382 in 2019.
