Bhubaneswar: The government will develop three types of prefab structures – six, 20 and 50-central beds – across the country to handle the possibility of covid-related investigations in the future.
Facilities will be built with funds from the center under the Plan of the Covid Emergency-II (ECRP) response.
The State Public Works Department, which will take construction work, has asked the building division to immediately start the project.
Shalini Pandit, Mission Director, National Health Mission, has requested the State Public Works Department to start building a prefab structure in accordance with the earliest ECRP guidelines and completed the process on March 31, 2022.
Odisha Secretary Chief Suresh Chandra Mohapatra led the meeting to discuss the project on September 2, 19 Emergency response package and Phase-II Health System (ECRP-II), which will be implemented from 1 July 2021, until March 31, 2022.
Of the total agreed total, around Rs 140 Crore will be spent to build a prefab structure.
The center in July released 15 percent of the total funds, which will be released by installments.
Mohfw has asked the state to ensure that funds, were released under the ECRP-II, used before March 31 and only spent for activities related to the project.
The state also needs to send reports of monthly physical and financial progress to the Ministry of Union on the utilization of funds.
