Bhubaneswar: Odisha police on Saturday arrested four people and presented ‘brown sugar’ worth more than RS 1 Crore from their ownership, among other valuables in the Bhadrak District.
During the encouragement encouragement, the Bhadrak Rustic police confiscated 1.090 grams of brown sugar from a rickshaw automatically carrying four people near Charampa on the NH-16, said Bhadrak’s supervisor from Police Charan Singh Meena.
The market value of the brown sugar confiscated by more than Rs 1 Crore.
The police also confiscated cash 1 lakh, three cellphones, and other articles, he added.
The police said four were accused, including a woman, had been served before a court.
Two of the defendants belonging to Bhadrak District while the other two came from Ballasore District, which were suspected of being the center of drug smuggling in Odisha.
Three of the defendants had gone to the area of Jaleswar in Ballasore District with automatic rickshaws and bought drugs from temporary drug suppliers accused of all four supplying brown sugar in Bhadrak and peripheral regions, added the police.
