BALASORE: Guests escape from the wedding at Soro Town in the Ballasore District on Sunday night after the police stormed the venue for a violation of Covid guidelines.
The source said the marriage was underway at the Mangal Niketan hotel in NH-16 near Chhapulia Chowk on Sunday night with more than 200 participants who violated government guidelines on the guest list.
Acting on the tip-off, Police Soro raided the venue.
As soon as the police team reached the place, guests began to escape.
Madhumita Mohanty, Police Station Iic Soro, said that the groom from West Bengal was married to a girl from Soro Municipality.
More than 100 people from West Bengal and the bride’s relatives attended the event.

“The police team each collected a fine of each RS 5,000 from the owner of the hotel and the bride’s family for violating Covid guidelines.
The team also warned them about action in accordance with pandemic actions if more than 25 people gathered in the venue.
