Odisha: Puri Jagannath Temple Administration Drops plans to preserve the train for tourists

Bhubaneswar: Shree Jagannath’s temple administration in Puri has wrapped his plan to preserve three trains from Rath Yatra last year at the Jagannath Ballav Mutt place to attract tourists.
The temple administration said Mutt did not have a space that fits the warehouse to accommodate giant wood trains, right now.
The height of Taladhwaja Charan Lord Baabhadra is 45ft and has 14 wheels, Nandighosha from Lord Jagannath is 45.6ft with 16 wheels and Darpadalana from the Devi Subhadra is 12.6ft with 12 wheels.
Last year, the Temple administration had formed a technical committee, which consisted of an engineer and several temple officials, to prepare a master plan to preserve the train in the Jagannath Ballav Mutt, about 500 meters from the 12th century Temple in the Grand Road, to seduce visitors.
Jagannh Ballav Mutt, which is spread in 42 hectares, is being developed by the state government under the augmentation of basic facilities and the development of a heritage and architecture scheme (Aunta).
Multi-layer parking lot, treatment center and museum centers and crafts are being built there as part of the project.
The Committee did not find it technically feasible to preserve the charotes in the current state.
“At present, we don’t have a well-extensive and wide site to immediately keep the train in Jagannath Ballav Mutt.
Mutt has a small base that can only accommodate miniature trains.
We might think of preserving trains in the future if the right infrastructure is available in place Mutt, “said Administrator Temple (Development) Ajay Kumar Jena.
The temple administration dismantled the train last year and maintained wood parts.
According to the plan, the wood parts should be re-installed for the reconstruction of the train and show off at the Jagannath Ballav Mutt.
Now, because the train will not be preserved, the temple body will be sold or they are firewood in the kitchen of the temple.
According to tradition, the train was dismantled after the end of Rath Yatra every year and the train new goods were built ahead of the annual Grand Festival.
While the wheels are dismantled and some other parts are sold, the remaining parts are used as firewood in the kitchen of the temple every year.
Because a large number of trees are cut down to build trains every year, there are demands from various quarters to preserve the train for Yatras Rath in the future.
