Bhubaneswar: Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb (67), who is the Scion of the Kingdom of the Kingdom of Istama Utkala, completes 50 years from her educational Chhera Pahanra ritual at Rath Yatra on Monday.
Just like this is a treat to witness the god of siblings from the Jagannath Temple on a well-decorated train, it’s equally interesting to see Gajapati Maharaja do Chhera Pahan, which involves sweeping the deck train with a gold-plated broom.
in Rath Yatra.
The king arrived at ‘Tamjan’ (also called Mehena – a stretcher with a hood) in the procession of the royal palace to the train and performed rituals with maximum dedication.
“Dibyasingha Deb holds the kingdom and no soldier.
Still, he holds the Fortress Rath Yatra Annual Lord Jagannath and has carried out Pivotal Chhera Pahanra since 1971.
It is a fun day for him to finish 50 years long in God’s services,” said an officer Senior Shree Administration of JaganiNath Temple.
The source said Debyingha Deb raised the throne in July 1970 when his father Gajapati Maharaja Birakishore Deb died in the middle of Rath Yatra.
Dibyasingha Deb at that time was only 17, pursuing history at St.
Stephen’s College in New Delhi.
Inheriting the divine SEVA from his father, Debyedha Deb committed his first Chhera Pahanra by the train during Rath Yatra in 1971.
“In 1971 it was for the first time I appeared gajapati Maharaja Seva (King Niti and Chhera Pahanra) on sacred occasions.
From Ratha Yatra .
So now 50 years.
I can’t do Seva only once when I was in the United States for my LLM course in 1976, “King told Toi.
Dibyasingha Deb is the chairman of the Jagannath Temple Managing Committee.
The source said there was no predecessor that won this rare FETE serving in Jagannath’s temple for 50 years and more.
Although Gajapati Maharaja should offer different services near the gods in the temple every month, the official representative (Mudirasta, a minor servitor) most of them have made Seva King in his absence.
Mudirasta’s waiter had performed the Raja Pahanra Raja ritual at Sang Mandap (Bathing Platform) on the occasion of Debasnan Purnima at Jagannath Temple on June 24.
