Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Friday reported 2,070 new Covid-19 cases, which took the calculation to 9.49,929, while 64 fatalities encouraged victims to 4,925, senior health department officials said.
Of the 2,070 new cases, 1,195 were reported from the center of quarantine, and the rest was detected during contact contacts, the official said.
Khurda Regency, where the country’s capital of Bhubaneswar is part, recorded the maximum number of new cases and deaths each at 446 and 22.
Other districts that reported more than 100 new cases including Cuttack in 319, Ballasore in 176, Jajpur in 136 and castle on 109.
Deogarh reported a few cases in three.
Of the 64 fatalities, 10 were recorded in Bargarh, eight in Ballasore, seven in Sungergarh, six in Ganjam, and two of each in Kandhamal and Sambalpur.
One patient respectively gave up on infection in Boudh, Ladies, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj, Nuabada, Puri and Rayaganada.
It’s separate, 53 other Covid-19 patients in the state died of comorbidity.
Odisha currently has 21,742 active cases, while 9.23,209 patients, including 2,563 on Thursday, has recovered from a very contagious disease.
The level of pepositives is at 6.36 percent.
More than 1.49 crore samples have been tested in a state so far, including 70,244 on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared two apartments in the state capital as a detention zone after detection several cases there.
This apartment has been put under the supervision of the body of Civic and the police.
BMC will provide important commodities and medical support needed for families living in the area through the authorized vendor, said the source in the Civic body.
