Odisha: Rs 35,000 in prohibited notes recover from government engineers

Bhubaneswar: Five years after they stopped being a legal tender, Junked Rs 500 Notes with a nominal value of RS 35,000 was confiscated by Odisha’s vigilance from the home of the government engineer in Nayagarh on Thursday.
Anti-corruption wings found demonetised records when carrying out attacks at House of Rusinath Baral, an executive engineer assistant (RD Division) Ranpur in Nayagarh District followed disproportionate assets.
“When we were looking for a place to live, we found the RS 500 record that was banned worth Rs 35,000 under the pillow.
We were very suspicious of it was black money,” said a citizenship officer.
Further searches cause recovery of assets worth around RS 2.51 Crore owned by Baral and his relatives.
A 3-storey building and two plots in Bhubaneswar, one floor one floor and seven plots in the Dhenkanal district found in their names.
Baral has been detained.
