BHUBANESWAR: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday declared an quantity of Rs 67.52 lakh from chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF) to feed stray animals in metropolitan regions of the nation throughout the protracted lockdown period.
The Bhubaneswar municipal company (BMC) will invest Rs 20,000 daily, whereas Cuttack, Berhampur, Rourkela and Sambalpur municipal companies each will pay Rs 10,000 daily.
The country includes 48 municipalities along with 61 advised place councils (NACs).
Every municipality and NAC will pay Rs 5,000 and Rs 2,000 daily .
The ministry had previously declared Rs 1.13 crore this season in 2 stages for this function.
This initiative is to assist thousands of stray animals in the country who might face problems to find food through lockdown.
During the first stage of lockdown beginning from May 5 this season, the housing and urban development department of this state had advocated the urban regional bodies (ULBs) to maintain the ingestion of stray critters throughout the lockdown period.
Even the ULBs are counseled to fulfill the expenses from the funds available together from different resources such as source revenue or subject to recoupment by the particular aid commissioner (SRC) or chief minister’s relief fund (CMRF) sources.
ULBs can co-opt and associate with businesses working for animal welfare within their own ULBs.
The authorities had started this initiative throughout the initial wave of Covid-19 a season to feed stray critters throughout the lockdown period.
Anyway, Cuttack municipal company (CMC) has obtained Rs 15 crore out of CMRF to get Covid management.
The ministry on Thursday sanctioned that cash from your CMRF.
Formerly, CMC had acquired Rs 26.71 crore for this function.
For this, CMC acquired Rs 41.71 crore to get Covid direction, official sources said.
