Sambalpur: Art gallery on the wall of the house.
Shocked? Well, the unique combination of artists and weavers has done this by uniting the beauty and inheritance of the Sambalpuri ethnic design in Kardola Village in the district.
As many as 42 artists from various parts of West Odisha have painted charming murals of more than 4,000 square feet to provide a new and attractive look for the exterior of 47 weavers in Kardola Village in an effort to promote Sambalpuri Sari.
Creation was revealed during a four-day mural painting camp organized by Odisha Latal when the Academy from 18 to 22 November.
The sand artist who was recognized by Sudtarsan Pattnik, who lived in Kardola during the camp, said that after successfully regulating Patachitra’s similar mural painting activities in Raghurajpur Village in Puri District, the Academy decided to arrange one in Kardola to unite weavers and artists and promote Sambalpuri Sari.
Pattnik said the village was chosen because the large Weavers population lives in Kardola, which is located on the right edge of Mahanadi and is near the famous Ghanteswari temple.
Weavers offer design ideas to artists who are living on the village wall, he added.
Pattnik in a series of tweets sharing images and videos from vast artwork and said: “Unique ‘jugalbandi’ weavers and artists in the mural painting camp in #kardola village, #sambalpur on the design of ethnic sambalpuri has been held by Odisha Latal when the Academy is the first time.
Gallery This unique open mural includes 47 weaving houses by 42 artists.
“Minister of Tourism, Odia, Literature and Jyoti Prakash Panigrahi culture inaugurated the wall gallery in Kardola Village through virtual mode.
Pattnik said the gallery would help people learn about sambalpuri sari.
In addition, the gallery will be an additional attraction for tourists visiting Ghanteswari temple, he added.
He hopes the gallery will help increase footsteps to the Sambalpur district.
