Odisha signed a pact with Delhi NGO with road safety

Bhubaneswar: State Transportation Authority (STA) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Delhi-based Save Life Foundation (SLF), a NGO, which worked for road safety.
SLF has been assigned to identify stretches tend to accidents, find out the causes of accidents and recommend repair measures to make zero death corridors in Odisha.
Sta said the MoU aims to reduce the death of the road in the next three years.
“Road safety is a very high priority area for us.
SLF has increased road safety situations in various countries.
I am sure our combined efforts will bring good results in Odisha too.
After the improvement steps are recommended and implemented, we hope for their fatalities.
Decreases by around 30-50 percent, “said Chairman of the Sta and the Transportation Commissioner Arun Bothra.
Piyush Tewari, Founder and CEO of SLF, said his agency would work on a zero-fatality corridor model through 360-degree interventions throughout the engineering, emergency care, enforcement and education.
The development was approaching the main heel of Minister Naveen Patnaik launched a road safety initiative under the banner of Rakshak – the first respondent training program on November 10.
At least 30,000 volunteers, who live or work in different restaurants and business companies near vulnerable spots, are trained as the first respondent to the crash on the road.
Death related to the accident on the road has increased almost 21% from 3,931 deaths in 2014 to 4,738 in 2020 in the state.
