Odisha: Spurt in rape and kidnapping places women’s safety in danger

Bhubaneswar: a series of crimes against women, including three cases of gang rape allegedly in various districts and the mysterious loss of a 23-year-old teacher from a school in religion, all in the week’s range has triggered serious worries about the security of women in the state.
At Dussehra, two women allegedly raped by gangs in separate places in the Mayurbanj district.
In the first incident, a woman reportedly offered a lift with two people with bicycles.
The defendant was suspected of raping him on the banks of the Khairibandan river below the Rebuan Police limit.
The police have detained five people in connection with this case.
In the second incident, a student allegedly kidnapped by three people in the Baninga police area and was raped.
Three arrests were made after the incident.
Two people were arrested by police papadahanandi in the district of Nabarangpur on Sunday for allegedly kidnapping and raping a little girl last week.
The incident, which involved the loss of female school teachers in the neighboring district of Masihandi, has sparked massive public anger.
His family has accused him that he might have been raped and killed.
It must be noted that according to the latest NCRB reports, crimes against women in Odisha increased by almost 10% last year from 2019.
While 23,183 cases related to the crime were registered in 2019, that number jumped to 252.9 in 202.9 crime per 1 lakh population , Second Odisha only for Assam, who saw 154.3 crime per 1 population lakh.
The problem of women’s safety is likely to be a snowball into the main political controversy ahead of the election of Panchayat as the name of the Minister of State for the house, Shankar Mishra, has conducted a round in connection with the loss of Balangir’s school.
The ruling party had a reason to worry because Shankar was accused of trying to protect the defendant with the disappearance of the default school teacher.
“” Women are not safe in the state.
The state government is only talking about taking steps for women’s safety, but not a little.
There was strong suspicion that school teachers might be raped and killed.
Shankar’s son tried to protect the Govend Sahu school president, who had escaped from Balangir police detention on Sunday.
The Minister must resign “BJP State President Samir Mohanty said.
Congress Mla Santosh Singh Saluja also crashed into BJD.” Women continue to be attacked almost every day.
The NCRB report has exposed the government’s failure to ensure women’s safety.
The name of the minister of Shankar related to the incident lost the teacher is the right case, “he added.
BJD, however, rubbed the accusation.” The government is committed to ensuring that women are safe in the state.
Those who are involved in crimes against women have never been spared by the state government.
The police took the school case that was lost very seriously.
Investigation is underway, “said Senior BJD leader Debi Mishra.
