Odisha: stir bhubaneswar municipal corporation for guests’ hats on social events

Bhubaneswar: Members of the Music Catering Association, Tents, Voice, Light and Music Band on Tuesday launched a protest in front of the Headquarters Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on the Step Body of the Civic to limit the number of guests at the wedding, ceremonies and funerals.
At the age of 50 said when the rest of Odisha followed the norm to allow 250 people in all functions, including official meetings and conventions, the capital should not limit the number of participants to 50.
They claim that limiting the number of guests in social functions have hit their business hard .
Jagadish Chandra Maharana, organizing the Secretary of the Association of Voice owners and Odisha lights, said they met the BMC commissioner in his office.
“The Commissioner promised us to review the norms and make new guidelines.
Since marriage and related functions will begin from November, there is time to change the rules and increase guests up to 250,” Maharana told Toi.
BMC on Monday in a command said, “To protect public health and prevent further spread of Covid-19 in winter, it has been decided that the total number of participants in marriage, yarn ceremonies, and funerals will be 50 at the BMC limit.” Association members Said in October last year, the Civic Agency had raised a minimum guest number from 50 to 200 although the city reported an increase in Covid-19 cases.
Binay Bhushan Patnaik, President of the All Odisha Catering Association, said they protested BMC’s steps because their business was influenced by the decision.
