Odisha: Students want national entrance tests to be held on time

BHUBANESWAR: Following the cancellation of Class XII board exams, students have now set their eyes on national level entrance tests like JEE, NEET, CLAT and others.
Most of the aspirants want the entrance exams to be held in a month or two without further delay.
Many students have been continuing with online coaching classes and taking part in mock tests with the national level exams in mind.
“Covid-19 cases are dropping across India.
Now, since as the Class XII board exams have been cancelled, we want the entrance tests to be held on time.
We must be ready for the tests which might occur anytime in July or August,” said Nikita Rath, a Class XII student.
Parents and students said even though the board exams have been called off, this continuous preparation has made students exhausted.
“My son has been preparing for Class XII and NEET simultaneously for the last two years.
But without any certainty over the exams it is very difficult for students to keep themselves motivated and continue with their preparations without any recreation and outdoor activities.
Now, since the Class XII exam will not be held, the government must not postpone the entrance exams further,” said Padmini Patnaik, mother of a Class XII student.
Students also hope that the government do not delay the commencement of the next academic session.
“If admissions in higher classes are held on time, at least the next academic session will not be delayed or disturbed,”said Pradipta Kumar Rath, another parent.
However, experts said this time the competition in the entrance tests may be tougher as more aspirants would appear for the exams as a large number of students, who may have missed the previous tests due to the pandemic, may also appear.
