Bhubaneswar: Construction of the Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium, which will become the largest hockey stadium in India, Rourkela, and Astro-Turf facilities in all 17 blocks are expected to be a big boost for the development of hockey in the Sundargarh district, known as a hockey cradle.
The high-level delegation of the state government is expected to visit Rourkela next week to review the progress of the construction of the Hockey Stadium.
Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium is the second place along with the Kalinga Stadium for the upcoming men’s World Cup, which will host Odisha for the second time in a row.
Around RS 120 Crore was spent by the government for advanced structures with 20,000 seats planned to offer an unparalleled sporting experience for viewers and players during the match.
