Religious: beautiful lake near Chhatrapur, Tampara, about 25 km from here in the Ganjam district, which was closed since April 10 when the second wave of Covid Hit Home, opened for visitors on Friday.
“We allow visitors to go to the Tampara Lake View Park,” said Collector District (Ganjam) Vijay Amruta Kouse.
He, however, added that they had to strictly follow the Covid-19 protocol while on the lake.
Two other tourist destinations, Gopalpur Beach and Pati Sonepur, which were also closed from the same day as Tampara, opened about a month ago.
The source said Tampara remained closed until now to facilitate construction work.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has inaugurated the Taman Lake View Park on March 19.
This project is applied under the Swadesh Darshan Center scheme.
Water sports facilities in the spacious water bodies were introduced on the lake last year by the Ministry of Tourism under PPP mode.
Water infrastructure is severely damaged at Cyclone Phailin, which has hit the district on October 12, 2013.
