Bhubaneswar: DGP Abhay on Wednesday entrusted a branch of crime by investigating alleged Chittaranjan Palei’s murder, personal assistant deputy chairman of the Deputy of the State Planning Board of Sanjay Dasburma, in Puri.
Palei’s body, who was lost on Saturday night, was found on the river on the outskirts of Puri on Sunday.
Based on his family complaint, the police registered a murder case against an unknown defendant.
Palei’s family member, including his wife, accused Dasburma conspiring to kill him.
“With the direction of DGP, the crime branch has taken over the case (No.
424) registered at the conscious police station in Puri.
DSP Comb Kumar Mishra will be an investigation officer of this case.
A inspector, sub-inspector and a sub-inspector’s assistant will help Mishra in the probe, “said DGP (crime branch) Sanjeeb Panda said.
He added that the investigation team will immediately proceed to the city of pilgrims and take over investigations from the local police.
Although Puri SP Kanwar Vishal Singh has formed a special investigation team (sitting) for that purpose, a member of the Palei family on Tuesday demanded an investigation led by a crime to uncover the mystery about his death.
Palei’s wife, Priyanka, said the crime branch had to bring Dasburma and one Jagannath Sarangi (Palei friend) under the scope of the investigation.
“My husband has gone by taking care of the party.
Because my husband is at odds with Dasburma, I suspect he hatches plans to eliminate him,” Priyanka said.
Dasburma, who has denied this accusation flattened against it, said high-level investigations would reveal the truth.
However, BJP, who has suppressed Dasburma’s resignation, suspects the crime branch can protect former BJD minister.
