Odisha: The level of confidence fell by 2020, police blamed Covid

Bhubaneswar: The overall level of confidence in criminal cases in Odisha reached a new low last year.
According to statistics on national crime records (NCRB), the level of confidence reached 11.2%, second lowest after Assam, whose level of confidence was 5.4%.
In 2019, the level of state confidence was 21.5%, the NCRB report stated.
The police connected it with interference in court trials because of Covid.
“The court process is affected by a pandemic.
We also cannot complete certain court formalities because of Covid outbreaks and related enforcement activities,” said a senior police officer.
Experts say poor investigation and collection of scientific evidence, lack of supervision by senior officers, the absence of adequate amounts of lawyers and a shortage of good government judges is the main factor that produces low confidence over the past few years.
State confidence level was 9.5% in 2015, 10.4% in 2016, 9.3% in 2017, 5.7% in 2018 and 21.5% in 2019.

While the level of confidence in such cases is 37.25% by 2020, he has touched 41.6% at the end of July this year.
The level of confidence is 41.52% in 2019.
