“While the design of new buildings in the Khallikote block will be changed to build a new hostel building, we are looking for land in the nearest hostel from KGBV in Block Rangeilaunda”, he said.
The KGBV scheme was launched by the central government with the aim of increasing education among girls, where they provided free housing education.
This scheme is to benefit school girls who lose education and those who are in financial trouble in rural areas and to arrest drop out of school among the girls.
However, with the facilities offered only until class VIII on the KGBV, it was observed many poor family female students drop out of school due to lack of adequate facilities after grade 8.
As a result, it has been decided to introduce the same housing facilities at Hostel KGBV for even girls registered in class 9 and 10 in the closest schools from next year, said Source.
In some other countries, including Uttar Pradesh, the dormitory facilities in the KGBV were expanded to girl students from class 8 to 12, the source added.
