Keonjhar: Hundreds of valuable trees have been allegedly cut down to change from 100 schools in 13 blocks in the district under the school transformation program.
It was 100 high schools, dedicated to people with Minister Naveen Patnaik last week, has changed using the District Mineral Foundation fund.
According to the source of the Ministry of Forestry, around 30 schools have been applied to permission for trees cut for the project.
However, they accused the Girls High School government, where the function was held, not applied but several logs found lying on campus showed that trees were cut down without permission.
“When the whole world is facing severe global warming, instead of protecting valuable trees, they are being felled.
Now they have planted a striking tree in their place while spending the Lakh Rupee on behalf of beauty,” said Ajay Sahu, a senior member of the forum Keonjhar Citizens’.
“More than two to three hundred trees have been cut down without any record.
While we teach students about how to reduce global warming and protect the environment by planting more trees, what lessons they get from cutting down trees?” He asked.
According to the Ministry of Forestry Officer, around 28 schools, including 21 under the Forest Division Keonjhar, has asked permission to cut down trees for the school transformation program.
District forest officers, Forest Division Keonjhar, Dhanraj H D, said they received the application for permission to cut down from 21 schools.
“In order for logging to be given to 11 schools,” Dhanraj said, adding trees in many cases, the contractor was allegedly cut down quickly without obtaining permission.
“We will review cases if the tree is cut down without permission and taking steps accordingly,” he added.
