Bhubaneswar / Religious: Two command of the Odisha Police Special Operations Group (SOG) and a number of unknown Maoists were injured during the fire exchange in Uma’s forest, below the limit of the Gochhapada police station in Kandhamal Regency, on Saturday.
The injured Jawan was flown to Bhubaneswar in a helicopter carrying DGP Abhay, who was visiting Malkangiri District which was hit by Maoist with several top officers.
After hearing about the meeting and injury to Jawan, the DGP helicopter took a detour to Padel on Boudh, close to Kandhamal and the operating site.
Jawan who was injured underwent treatment at AIIMS, Bhubaneswar and their condition was stated.
“While a command has two bullets attached to his thighs, hurt the pelvic area and the upper side of his chest, SOG has received a bullet on his cheek.
Surgery will be done to extract bullets,” said AIIMS Inspector Sachidananda Mohanty.
Following intelligence reports, operations were launched in forest areas, about 70 km from the city of Phulbani district headquarters.
“The operation has been intensified.
Our troops are hunting for extremists.
CRPF sent reinforcements and helped save the injured,” Abhay said.
He was accompanied by IG (Operation) Amitav Thakur, Director (intelligence) of Lalit and Deal (Wing Special Intelligence) Anurudh Singh.
“To light up the injured warriors, the police asked the IAF helicopter from Raipur but had to return to the middle because of the bad weather.
At that time the helicopter brought DGP and other officers had to double the air ambulance to bring the army to Bhubaneswar,” said Thakur.
