Bhubaneswar: When the country prepared Panchayat elections in February, three main political parties had a separate target to reach.
BJD LED Naveen Patnaik tried his best to defend his fort at the grassroots after a small jolt received from BJP in the last Panchayat election in 2017 when the Safron Party greatly increased the calculation and pushed Congress to third.
Offset the trend, it also removed the Grand Old Party as the main opposition in Lok Sabha 2019 and the selection of assemblies even though Naveen invaded back to the fifth consecutive term.
While notification of the poll process by the State Election Commission (SEC) is awaited, Naveen has launched a smart card in various districts under the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).
The minister’s chairman has included 10 out of 30 districts.
Political observer said it would be the main poll board because people were far more concerned with health care after the Pandemic Covid-19.
“The BSKY SMART card will be the main trump card for BJD in this poll, such as the Kalia Cash incentive scheme for farmers in 2019,” said Gyana Ranjan Swain, a professor of political science at the University of GM, Sambalpur.
BJP is developing, which is the main competitor of BJD, trying to expand its further headquarters who are eyeing the agenda that is not fulfilled to power in Odisha.
In a situation where the congress was considered not included because of the rape of a well-known gang in 1999, BJP has tried to corner the Naveen government about crime against women.
After months of agitation of the alleged murder of a girl in Nayagarh Regency, has set protests seeking the resignation of the Minister of State for the house of Shankar Mishra for alleged involvement in the murder of a teacher in Kalangandi.
ASIMA Sahu, a professor of political science at Ravenshaw University, said that at that time people did not see erosion at the Naveen sound bank.
Congress is also a banking in laws and situations in addition to price increases and is considered anti-farmers against BJP, which is in power in the center, and BJD in the state.
For political relevance, the Congress needs to stop the decline in voting for years, analysts said.
