Bhubaneswar: Residents of Boinda Village in Angul Odisha District have urged the center to accelerate parts of the cuttack-angul and section of the sambalpur-angul from the National Highway-55 (formerly NH-42).
Education Minister Union Dharmendra Pradhan, who belonged to the area, also asked his colleague from Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Transportation and Highway, for the last personal intervention in this issue.
The villagers under the Kishoreganj police station in the district submitted a memorandum to Pradhan regarding the delay in expansion and increased to NH-55.
They have stated that the Foundation of the NH-55 was placed in December 2018 and the deadline was September 2020.
But the work of NH expansion was unfinished, said the villagers.
NH-55, who passed Odisha, was divided into part of the cuttack-angul and sort of sambalpur-angul.
The villagers accused the company’s work, which implemented the project, not in accordance with the target.
In memorandum, villagers say the company does not do work correctly causing regular road accidents.
“About 600 lives have been lost in several road accidents in this area for the past four years,” he added.
They said the construction of two bridges in Panimahar and Chandan Pokhiri were not finished.
In addition, the construction of seven elephant underpasses was also delayed.
“Apart from these problems, the amount of land compensation at the revised level has not been paid to land losers in many places.
