BHUBANESWAR: The lockdown has brought to the fore a savage aspect of a number of marital discord at Khandagiri region of Bhubaneswar.
A girl was brutally attacked by her father-in-law along with brother-in-law and pushed at a drain out their residence because she accused them of attempting to organize another union for the husband.
The 22-year-old lady was wed to Haider Ali (30) of Khandagiri region in January this season.
They’d shot a house on lease in the Khandagiri region.
Two months before, Ali supposedly picked up a quarrel with her left home.
She frequently visited the home of her in-laws and didn’t locate Ali.
“On Tuesday afternoonI went into the home of my in-laws.
I heard they were organizing another union for the husband.
However, they didn’t allow me to enter the home and asked me to quit.
I assumed my husband was found within the house,” she said.
After she pleaded with her father-in-law Mohammed Samsudin to let her to fulfill Ali, he attacked her.
“I had been hoping to phone the authorities, however my father-in-law drifted off my phone and then smashed it on the floor.
Then he slapped and kicked me.
My husband’s elder brother Mohammad Faruk came from the home and assaulted me.
He threw me at a drain,” she alleged.
The attack on her was captured by a neighbor, enabling the authorities to find vital proof against the Turks.
“We’ve detained her husband Haider Ali and are searching to get Samsudin and Faruk,” an officer of Khandagiri police station stated.
In the aftermath of a great number of domestic violence cases throughout lockdown in various countries this past year, the chief minister Naveen Patnaik needed in April 2020 requested the state authorities to take action to stop such offences from Odisha.
The authorities then introduced a’phone-up’ programme to deal with issues associated with domestic violence.
Under the plan, the authorities called up girls, who had been previously exposed to domestic violence, also confirmed their health throughout the lockdown period.
The girls and child development division had issued a WhatsApp amount annually to record complaints of domestic violence.
But, no such solutions are started in this lockdown.
“Many instances of domestic violence and atrocities on women could have gone undetected.
Law enforcement must take actions for the protection of the girls,” Sushama Swain, a female activist said.
Authorities said they’re dedicated into the women’s security.
“Although we haven’t begun any particular programme to deal with the issues concerning domestic violence, the victims could call the police for support.
Our employees will collect their own complaints by your doorstep,” a officer at the state police officer stated.
