Mumbai: City crime branch investigating drug smuggling worth RS 14.40 Crores has made another breakthrough with the arrest of income tax officials (I-T) which facilitates the sindicate of drug smuggling from Jammu and Kashmir.
6 crime branch unit on Wednesday captured Satish Bhau Dev aka Bapu, who worked as a notification server with the I-T department in Mumbai.
The police said they had told the I-T department about his arrest.
Satish Bapu, 59, has one year for retirement.
Last month, the crime branch team continued to oversee certain Santro cars at the Defendarian checkpoint, and used a car with four passengers and Charas worth Rs 14.40 Crore.
The four suspects were identified as Bandu Udanshive, 52, his wife Clera, 52, son of Cynthia, 23, and Daughter-in-law Jadang Jahangir Shaikh, 24.
“As long as the supervision of their cellphone, we found some of their audio clips where they sounded discussing medicines and traces of money .
We learned that Satish Bapu was used to regularly buy Charas from the gang and sell it, “said an officer.
Police on Thursday took the fourth custody accused of facing Satish Bapu for various drug transactions.
Police said the modus operandi geng was to travel to J & K with women to avoid checking nights.
