Chennai: The CBI registered a case against the Senior Supervisor of the Regional Passport Office of Madurai V Veeraputhiran to publish illegal passports to Sri Lanka and took a bribe of Rs 45,000 from the agent.
Agent, Samesh, has also been ordered by the CBI.
The CBI said he had received reliable source information that during June-September 2019, Veeraputhiran signed a criminal conspiracy with Ramesh and several other travel agents to provide a passport to Sri Lanka which did not qualify for Indian passports.
Ramesh transferred a bribe of Rs 45,000 in three stages to the Bank India savings account from Veeraputhiran.
The CBI registered a case of criminal conspiracy and corruption against the duo.
