Mangaluru: V G Kashimath, who retired as the executive director in Nandini Dairy, Vijayapura, was on a mission to save the Patri bilva tree.
He has distributed around 10,000 Patri bilva seeds (Aegle Marmelos), in South India, including 2,000 in Dakshina Kannada District, after the campaign was officially launched by Sri Siddheshwar Swami in Vijayapura on January 15, 2018.
Now based in Bengaluru, he traveled across the country to collect seeds.
He told the Toi: “Patri bilva trees are important because of the significance of the drug and religious.

He plans to strengthen his campaign with the support of the Hindu Karnataka Religious Institution and Department of Amal Endowments.
He relates to botanists and other subjects, and also examines various types of patri bilaval trees.
Meanwhile, he has also launched a campaign to preserve the defense or Elephant Apple (Feronia Elephantum).
“The fruit is very nutritious, but is being ignored.
I have sent around 5,000 seeds to Vijayapura, to be developed into seeds.
If successful, the seeds will also be distributed.
