Mumbai: Ola and Uber driver, who threatens to strike lately, surprised to receive text messages along with the graph on their mobile this week which is displayed per kilometer rates have “hiking” by 20% to 33%.
When contacted, Uber management and Ola said there were no official comments or statements about any increase in tariffs and refused to comment on messages received by drivers from their official platform.
The driver said the messages had been sent from Ola and Uber’s control rooms.
The messages have information about “Hikes” and “Drop” in rates, depending on the distance.
The driver’s partner said they got a different graph, with Uber said that it had increased the tariff per km by 25-33% for a trip of up to 15 km while Ola’s message reading it has increased the perm km rate of 20 km to 30 km.
Ubergo, for example, shows the level per km hiking from Rs 7.5 to RS 10 while Ola Prime Sedan shows an increase from Rs 10 to RS 13.
Table of tariffs received by the driver also shows a long distance decline for longer distances.
On Uber, if someone travels more than 15 km, rates down 6% and 19-33% in Ola for traveling more than 30 km, a driver said.
Drop in Ubergo comes from Rs 10.60 to Rs 10 and in Ola Mini from Rs 15 to RS 10.
Driver partner Shahnawaz Hussain, “We are very happy to receive a tariff increase message.
But when some of us drive a taxi on Thursday, the rates collected less From what we expected.
“For example, one driver shares the details of travel with TOI where he discusses the distance of 32km and gets the cost of Rs 240.
The driver of another driver from Nalasopara to Parel Lower (64 km) and receives distance, then the rate falls,” said Hussain.
Uber and Ola officials declined to comment.
The source said the increase was to cover losses during the locking of Covid-19 and the increase in fuel prices.
