Tokyo: Only six officials from the Indian contingent which will be allowed to take part in the Olympic opening ceremony on Friday, the Country Deputy Chef-de-mission Prem Kumar Verma told PTI, adding that athletes who had the next day will be discouraged from attending The event.
India was represented by 127 athletes in the game with a total contingent size to 228, including officials, coaches and other support staff.
“Six officials (from each country) were allowed at the ceremony but there was no hat on athletes.
However, we have advised the athletes who have the event the next day to pass through the ceremony and focus on their game,” Verma said after the meeting.

“The ceremony will likely last until midnight so they better rest for their show the next day,” he added.
The shooter, boxer, archer and men’s hockey team and women are scheduled to compete a day after the opening ceremony.
India has named the Captain of Manpreet Singh’s Hockey and women champion six times Boxers M C Mary Kom as a flag carrier for the opening ceremony.
While Mary Kom is not scheduled to compete the next day, Manpreet will lead the team to the first pool of the match against New Zealand on Saturday.
