Omicron 4 times more contagious from Delta in Japan Study

Tokyo: The Omicron Covid-19 variant is 4.2 times more transmitting at the initial stage than Delta, according to a study by a Japanese scientist who suggests the State Health Ministry, a finding that tends to confirm fear of transmission of new strains.
Hiroshi Nishiura, a Professor of Health and Environment at Kyoto University who specializes in Mathematical Modeling of Infectious Diseases, analyzes available genome data until November 26 in South Africa in Gauteng Province.
“The omicron variant transmits more, and escapes from immunity to be built naturally and through more vaccines,” Nishiura said in his findings, which was presented at the Ministry of Health Advisory Panel meeting on Wednesday.
Concerns are circling globally that omikron can handle a larger world than Delta, and the World Health Organization has warned that it can trigger a surge with “heavy consequences.” But leap in cases in South Africa after the emergence of a variant has not made a hospital, which leads to some optimism that might only cause mild disease.
Pfizer Inc.
and Bionech SE also said this week that the dose of the vaccine booster they could strengthen protection against tension.
Nishiura studies have not been reviewed by peer-reviewed and published in scientific journals.
The new analysis was carried out using the same method that he used in a July study published by the Eurosurveillance Medical Journal of Delta’s dominance predicted before the Tokyo Olympics.
Hundreds of researchers globally raced to understand the new variant, which was the most different tension among the five variants of concerns identified by WHO since the pandemic began.
Cases in South Africa have increased rapidly to almost 20,000 a day since the country first reported the discovery of Omicron two weeks ago.
The number of Covid cases in this country remains low in previous weeks, although only 26% of the population are fully vaccinated, according to Bloomberg vaccine trackers.
“The level of vaccination is less than 30% and many people may be infected naturally,” said Nishiura.
“We need to pay attention to future trends to see if the same thing will happen in countries where the MRNA vaccine is used at a high level.”
