Nagpur: After replacing the Delta variant in the district, New Omicron Lineage BA.2 turns into a new dominant variant strain among symptomatic patients, according to the latest neeri genome sequencing study.
Omicron variants so far known to cause mild disease and most of them found positively covid in the last 30 days remains asymptomatic or mild symptoms.
Three series of previous genome sequencing carried out by neeri were carried out in a total of 3 samples collected randomly between 1 and 16 January from various parts of the city.
In this fourth series, sequencing was carried out in 89 samples of symptomatic cases, including six received in private hospitals.
This sample was collected between 17 and 21 January by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).
BA.2 does not show off gene removal, making it difficult to detect tension without genome sequencing.
