Chennai: Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Dr.
J Radhakrishnan said on Wednesday that the Omicron variant was the reason behind the sudden increase in Covid-19 cases in the state and urged the media to be sensitive to the public.
He was talking to a specialized media workshop organized by the Press Information Bureau related to the State Health Department and UNICEF.
“Worshop will help journalists understand that information during the crisis should not be treated as a commodity.
In a pandemic, it is the responsibility of the media to play an important role in mencing people,” he said.
He said the facts check must be done before presenting any information to the public.
